Ordinary citizens can attend the Inauguration — it is one of the crowning events in
American democracy. Tickets (for the better seats, closer to the platform) are
distributed by the members of the 111th Congress. Need to know

Anyone can be on the Mall in DC, between the Capitol and the Washington
Monument. In Inaugurals past, there have been huge displays set up to show the
events on the platform.

INAUGURATION PARADE
The Presidential Inauguration Parade is an American tradition honoring the newly
sworn in President and Vice President. The event will include a procession of
ceremonial military regiments, citizens’ groups, marching bands, and floats. The
inauguration parade is open to the public and will be televised so that millions of
Americans can view this special event.

Location: Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Washington, DC
Viewing stands and bleachers will extend from 3rd to 17th Sts.  

PARKING
No Parking on US Capital grounds. Those wishing to drive into the district should
park at RFK stadium and take the Metro subway from the Stadium-Armory station to
Metro subway stations in the vicinity of US Capital Grounds such as, Union Station,
Capitol South, Federal Center, Smithsonion and Judiciary Square.
(RFK STADIUM IS APPROX 2 MILES IN DISTANCE FROM THE CAPITOL BLDG)
US Capitol Building will be closed to the public and police will block all streets
within a two block radius of the Capitol Building at 6:00 AM.

The following are prohibited in secured areas of the US Capitol Grounds: packages,
coolers, bottles, mace, pepper spray, weapons, sign or posters. Ticket holders are
required to pass through security screening.

Please dress appropriately. Crowds will be required to stay behind the police lines
along the curb. Please know that you must leave the grounds as soon as the event
is over. There will be signs directing you to the subway stations as well as the
parade area.
